ARS Mains in Agricultural Extension Education
The stage that decides the merit list. Descriptive question banks by unit and by marks, previous year papers, and answer writing that gets evaluated.
What the Mains actually asks
For ARS, SMS and STO the Preliminary is only a screening gate; the marks that build your final merit come from the descriptive Mains and the interview. That makes Mains the stage worth the most preparation and the one most candidates prepare least.
The descriptive paper is set in sections by marks. A 5-mark question wants a precise, compact answer. A 15-mark question wants structure: a definition, a body organised under headings, examples grounded in Indian programmes, and a conclusion that answers the question that was asked rather than the one you revised.
Question banks by unit
The descriptive question banks on this site are organised by unit and by marks, following the same ten-unit structure as the objective paper.
1035 practice questions and 158 previous year questions in total.
Writing answers that score
- Answer the verb. Discuss, critically evaluate, differentiate and describe want different things. Most marks are lost by writing a good answer to the wrong verb.
- Structure visibly. Headings and short paragraphs. An examiner reading the four hundredth script finds marks faster in a structured answer.
- Use Indian examples. ATMA, KVK, e-NAM, NICRA, MKSP, FPOs. A named programme is worth more than a general statement.
- Diagrams where they earn their space. Communication models, the adoption curve, a logical framework. Labelled, not decorative.
- Write to time. Knowing the content and not finishing the paper are the same result.
Getting answers evaluated
Answer writing does not improve by writing alone. It improves when somebody who knows what the examiner is looking for marks it and tells you what was missing. The Mains section of AgriExtPrep lets you write an answer, submit it, and get it back evaluated with comments.
Mains answer writing is part of the preparation packages.
